Bombers Pelham 55 Snaffle

The Bombers Pelham has rings for attaching two pairs of reins, one pair at the mouthpiece and one pair at the bottom of the shank. This gives an effect similar to that of riding on a bit. Some riders, who find it difficult to handle two pairs of reins, use a delta that is inserted into both bit rings, a rein is then attached to the delta. The Pelham 55 has the shortest shank in the Bombers range (55 mm), it gives less leverage and pressure on the neck than a bit with a longer shank. Supplied with cheek chain and hooks.

Snaffle bits are popular because of their curved mouthpieces that distribute pressure more evenly across the tongue and cheeks. They reduce the nutcracker effect that results in the horse lifting its head and therefore offer a solution for horses that run with their heads down.
