The Sprenger Kimblewick bit, also known as a hunting rod, works much like a pelham bit. When using a Kimblewick bit, you can use it with a delta or attach the reins to the large ring or one of the smaller ones. The cheek chain increases the sharpness of the bit but the leverage is significantly less, thanks to the short D-shaped rings. The tongue freedom of this Kimblewick bit also helps to make it a little gentler.
