Standard Lactic acid lime
Standard Lactic acid lime – For acute conditions, muscle cramps, eclampsia, poor labor.
Should only be used in case of an urgent need for rapid calcium absorption for short periods.
During/after giving birth, the bitch may experience an acute calcium deficiency (eclampsia – cramps, exhaustion) and calcium must be able to be quickly absorbed by the body. Dissolve lactic acid in water and give the bitch/cat (by force if necessary), preferably together with dextrose or Standardt AKTIV.
However, remember that excess calcium during pregnancy can cause labor weakness. So be careful not to give extra calcium if it is chemically treated, more than what is required to balance out high phosphorus levels (e.g. in extra fresh meat/fish) before giving birth.
Slaked lime is always chemically treated and can be overdosed, i.e. the body cannot get rid of the excess when needed.
Should only be used when rapid absorption is necessary and should only be given for a limited period. Other chemically treated types of lime (e.g. bound with salt) are, for example, tricalcium diphosphate or monocalcium phosphate.
If you want to give extra lime for longer periods or throughout your life, you should give chemically untreated lime. For example, if you cook your own food or if you suspect that the need is increased for various reasons.
Standard BONE FLOUR and Standard KALK PLUS are two non-chemically treated lime products and do not disrupt the body's natural overdose protection.
