Biofarmab Rehalyt Basic
Salt replacement for feed supplements, counteracts electrolyte loss during heavy sweating.
Horse sweat is what is called hypertonic, which means that the sweat contains a higher concentration of ions than blood and other body fluids. Horses that sweat lose many electrolytes and trace elements in addition to water. Hard-working horses can quickly develop electrolyte imbalance and dehydration as a result of sweating. Also keep in mind that horses normally lose fluid and electrolytes through breathing, urination and defecation. The normal daily requirement for a 500 kg horse is estimated to be between 20-40 grams of salt. During the winter, when horses sweat less, they often do not drink as much, which can contribute to dehydration, which is why salt may need to be added to increase water intake.
Electrolyte solutions formulated for horses should contain electrolytes in the same proportions as in horse sweat, but with a lower content of potassium ions, as hay, among other things, is rich in potassium. A lack of electrolytes can lead to reduced blood volume. In the event of a long-term deficiency, the body's ability to retain water is affected and body weight drops. If left untreated, dehydration can lead to muscle cramps, poor oxygen, energy and fluid transport through the body. Kidney problems, inability to sweat and poor recovery after exercise are other problems.
During diarrhea, fluid and electrolyte losses are large and since the horse cannot store electrolytes, these must be supplied continuously.
Eclipse Biofarmabs Rehalyt Basic contains, in addition to sodium, potassium, chloride, glycine (for improved salt absorption) and chelated calcium and magnesium. Chelated is the term used because the electrolyte is protein-bound, which is especially important for rapid biological absorption.
1000g 60g
Sodium chloride 667g 40g
Potassium chloride 117g 7g
Glycine 83g 5g
Chelated calcium 25g 1.5g
Chelated magnesium 25g 1.5g
ANALYTICAL CONSTITUENTS Crude protein 13.6%, crude ash 81.6%, crude fat and crude oil 0.1%, fibre 0.5%, sodium 26.2%, potassium 6.1%, calcium 0.45%, magnesium 0.45%, chlorides 45.9%, glucose 8.4%
DOSAGE
After light exercise: 20-30 g
After hard training: 50-60 g
1 serving = 17 g
Mix into the concentrate feed. 60 g replaces the salts in about 5 liters of sweat. Horses receiving salts should have free access to water.

- Electrolyte mixture
- Lack of electrolytes can impair performance
- Deficiency can also impair the function of nerves and muscles.
