Standard Omega3 Fish Oil
Standard OMEGA3 liquid fish oil is only from wild-caught fish that have been allowed to eat plankton and small fish under completely natural conditions. These marine organisms contain the highest levels of EPA/DHA.
Most dogs & cats can achieve better general condition with additional intake of animal fat with high quality = high EPA & DHA values.
Today we know that certain nutrients are essential, meaning they must be supplied in the diet because the dog or cat cannot produce these substances themselves. For a dog or cat, energy should come from animal fat for the best physical conditions and complete nutrient absorption.
Energy from animal fat is one of the most important resources for starting a weakened immune system, along with proteins, vitamins and minerals.
The various fatty acids help with nutrient absorption and produce substances together with the above nutrients for the immunological system. The fatty acid EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) is found naturally in all animal fats and among the highest EPA concentrations are found in fish oil from fatty, wild-caught fish.
The omega 3 fatty acids EPA/DHA are important for the body's cells, contributing to the structure of cartilage, the nervous system, the blood, skin/fur formation and muscle mobility. They help with nutrient absorption and produce substances together with vitamins and minerals for the immune system, while the fatty acids provide the right energy.
EPA can stop inflammation and they have also found that EPA from fish oil blocks the enzyme that is responsible for the breakdown of cartilage in the joints.
The omega-3 fatty acid EPA is the only fatty acid that is taken up by the dog's cartilage cells (chondrocytes) and helps control inflammation deep within the joint. Shiny fur, good skin and soft paws are all good signs that the dog or cat is getting enough energy for their entire nutritional system.
OMEGA3 vs OMEGA6 It is now known that Omega3 promotes the production of the enzyme that helps prevent the breakdown of cartilage in the joints. Omega6, on the other hand, has the opposite effect and accelerates the breakdown of cartilage.
Therefore, it is very important that the ratio of these two is always Omega3 > Omega6. So if for some reason you want to give extra fat, you should avoid vegetable oils as their Omega6 levels are usually very high. An animal oil contains both and is preferable, even those of lower quality.
The nutritional content can contribute to
EPA 20%
DHA 16%
DPA 3%
Fish oil should be phased in at the beginning of use
Start with 1/4 dose the first week and then increase by 1/4 each week to the full dose.
In case of loose or yellowish stools, reduce the dosage until the stools return to normal.
This is a sign that the body is not absorbing everything and getting rid of the excess.
Storage: Dark/Cool
